Experience Art in Person: Portland

It’s time for another look at how to safely experience art in person, this time in the city of Portland! During this past year, The Rose City’s vibrant art community adapted by showcasing exhibits and experiences online. Now, museums and galleries around the city of Portland are eager to once again open their doors to the public.

If you are looking to plan a visit, you’ll find some changes to how museums and galleries typically operate. In the state of Oregon, indoor and outdoor recreational and entertainment facilities have been allowed to open, with restrictions. Many art establishments are requiring the advanced purchase of timed tickets, establishing restricted hours for visits, and adhering to appropriate COVID-19 protocols.

Below, you will find a handful of Portland museums and galleries that are welcoming back visitors to enjoy art in person.

Portland Art Museum

On May 5th, the Portland Art Museum proudly opened its doors back open to the public, giving visitors full access to all galleries including the highly anticipated new exhibition, Ansel Adams in Our Time. This remarkable exhibit, focused on the American landscape, is making its only west coast stop at the Portland Art Museum and will be on display until August 1st.

Before you visit, be sure to book a timed-entry ticket in advance as capacity is limited.
