The Pacific Northwest is a great place to explore, especially during the fall months. As the days become shorter, the air shifts to a cooler climate and the foliage around the cities begin to change, showcasing vibrant colors.

While the Pacific Northwest is known for its stunning fall foliage and outdoor adventures, we’ve gathered some fun fall activities to do indoors on those cooler, rainy days. From gallery events to visiting a museum, here are a few ways you can explore the Pacific Northwest while staying warm.

Explore Color at the Elizabeth Leach Gallery

Located in Portland, the Elizabeth Leach Gallery presents artwork from a wide variety of contemporary media in an effort to create a dialogue between the local community and the global art world. During the month of October, the gallery will be featuring Apprehension of Beauty, an exhibition by Gregg Renfrow. His work explores light through abstract paintings and has been exhibited both nationally and internationally. You won’t want to miss out on exploring the vibrant colors featured in his artwork.

Learn About Clara Barck Welles at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art

If you happen to be enjoying the beautiful fall colors at the University of Oregon, you won’t want to miss out on visiting the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, which is located right on campus. Focusing on both historic collections and contemporary art, the museum aims to offer engaging and educational experiences. This fall, they are showcasing A New Woman: Clara Barck Welles, Inspiration & Influence in Arts & Crafts Silver. The exhibit focuses on the artistic work, career, and feminist social activism of one of the nation’s most noteworthy early 20th century entrepreneurs, Clara Barck Welles. Discover Seattle Artists at the Linda Hodges Gallery

Located in the historic Pioneer Square district in Seattle, the Linda Hodges Gallery focuses on painting, sculpture, and photography. In October, they will be showcasing artwork by Seattle artist, Sue Danielson. Her work displays incredible kaleidoscopic imagery based on both real and imagined landscapes. After stopping by, take some time to explore the beauty of Seattle’s first historic district by popping into one of its delicious lunch spots or quirky boutiques.

Explore Art from the Northwest with Bellevue Arts Museum

Just over ten years ago, the Bellevue Arts Museum launched the BAM Biennial. The exhibition focused on the work of emerging Northwest artists, craftspeople, and designers.
