2022 Retrospective: AWFAS’s Achievements in the Art Logistics Industry

2022 Retrospective: AWFAS’s Achievements in the Art Logistics Industry2022 was a very good year for our team at Art Work FAS. Our success was made possible by the deep love, value, and investment of the fine art community. Thanks to the excellent cultural and nonprofit organizations in the Pacific Northwest region which make up the art community here, Art Work Fine Art Services built lasting relationships with museums and art collectives, engaged with artists, collectors, and curators, and worked with new, compelling, and ever-evolving art pieces. Below are some of the strides we made toward serving our art logistics clients this year.

Expanded Collection Management Services

In 2022, we expanded our collection management services to meet the unique and growing needs of our clients. Clients looking to acquire pieces or handle the transition of a collection can now rely on our in-house collections manager to discuss options and help them make decisions. Our new viewing rooms give our clients a private space to review their collections or meet potential buyers. And, we’ve maintained a robust roster of resources to help our clients repair or restore their pieces.

A New In-House Collections Manager

This year, Art Work FAS welcomed Nathan Inwood to the team as Collections Manager. He leads storage and collections initiatives for the company and brings experience working with collectors, curators, gallerists, advisors, consultants, fiduciaries, and others with an interest in fine art. Nathan can offer clients resources to define their style or make investments; he acts as a matchmaker for clients and art industry professionals through our extensive network.

Nathan brings 24 years of experience in art services from across the fine art world, most recently from a company based in San Francisco. His wealth of experience will serve our clients who maintain private collections. Nathan’s past projects include the relocation of large museum collections and management of storage and logistics for private collectors. We look forward to having Nathan at the helm of our expanding collection management services.

A Growing Team of Experts

We saw a prodigious expansion of our expert team this year, with 50% employment growth over twelve months. This is a huge step for us and demonstrates our commitment to quality and leadership in the art service industry across the Pacific Northwest Coast and around the world.

Our team continues to be composed of carefully selected experts with diverse skills, insights, and experiences. Our experts at every level of the company have obtained higher education degrees in Art, meaning that our clients receive knowledgeable and attentive care and consideration for their art service projects.

This year’s growth includes the introduction of a new Operations Manager in our Portland location who will work in tandem with Art Work’s Logistics and Special Projects Manager also located in Portland, Eric Gibbons — a leader whose twenty years of experience has brought peace of mind to many of our fine art clients. Rob Saccardi, Art Work’s Crating and Special Projects Manager, continues to demonstrate his dedication and expertise in our most complex projects.

Unique Installation and Crating Projects

Our favorite part of any job is helping to transport artwork to a new location so people may experience it. 2022 brought us new and intriguing projects, and partnerships with notable artists, gallerists, and collectors across the world.

Among our most exciting projects this year, Art Work Fine Art Services fabricated crates for John Grade — a highly regarded contemporary sculptor based in Seattle. We also completed the installation of Ribbon of Light in Capitol Hill’s Cal Anderson Park in partnership with the artist, Horatio Law, and the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture.
