Activities in Seattle to Enjoy This Summer

Summer 2021 is here, bringing with it beautiful warm weather and longer days. Across the United States, cities are cautiously and optimistically beginning operations once again, this time with protective measures in mind. The state of Washington is fully set to reopen by June 30th, and with reopening comes a sprinkle of optimism that this summer will be far better than the last.

In the Pacific Northwest, some larger-scale events like Bumbershoot are remaining postponed for the time being while other smaller-scale activities are chugging along as planned. From gallery exhibitions to live performances, we’ve gathered some fun summertime activities in Seattle for you to explore.

Explore Seattle Gallery Exhibitions

With museums and galleries opening their doors to the public once again, summer is a great time to experience art in person yet again. At the Henry Art Gallery discover “Will Rawls: Everlasting Stranger” an exhibition by New York-based choreographer, performer, and writer Will Rawls. Working with a group of performers, he will be creating a stop-motion studio that experiments with slow movements from July 17th – August 15th.

Summer is a great time to explore different forms of art around the vibrant city of Seattle. We hope that you will join our team in experiencing these summer activities during July and August.

Discover Local Goodies at a Craft Festival in Seattle

Explore local artists and their specialties with Seattle’s indie craft shows which are back on for the 2021 summer season. Urban Craft Uprising will be making an appearance at the Edmonds Summer Fest on July 24th and then later for the Tacoma Summer Fest from August 7th-8th. Urban Craft Uprising features hundreds of local indie designers, crafters, and food vendors for you to explore. If you love handmade soaps, candles, and other fun treats, you won’t want to miss out.

Spend the Day at an Iconic Seattle Farmers Market

Grab your best reusable tote and mask, because farmers markets are back in business around the city of Seattle. The Magnolia Farmers Market opened June 5th while the Lake City Farmers Market will be returning on July 1st. Both markets will run until September and are the perfect place to enjoy local produce and goods.

Escape the Summer Heat at the Theater

Looking to escape the heat? Experiencing and exploring art through theater is a great way to get indoors. Hamilton, the Broadway phenomenon, will be making its debut at the  Paramount Theater on August 3rd and will run through September. If you are interested in seeing live music, The Avett Brothers will be performing at WaMu Theater, and Jason Isbell with Billy Springs will be performing at the Paramount Theater during July.
