Every piece of art is unique; that’s why each requires its own special and creative solutions when it comes to shipping, warehousing, and installing art. When hiring a team of art handlers, it’s important to find a company that is reliable and can care for a wide spectrum of art – customizing and innovating to ensure the safety of your fine art pieces.
Custom Crating
The customization of a crate depends on the way your art is to be transported and/or stored. The size, media, and quantities of the fine art that you are shipping or storing are also important factors that must be considered. An expert art handler can offer a full range of crating and packaging options designed to ensure the protection and security of your valued pieces, including open crating, enclosed, one-way, standard, and museum crates.
At Art Work FAS, all of our crate interiors are customized for the artwork that they contain. The most common interior setup for flatwork (2-D pieces), is a series of 2-inch thick, 3.5-inch wide foam bumpers around the interior of the crate. Common interior setups for 3-D pieces include packing into smaller inner boxes, packing into cavities cut out of sheets of soft foam, and brace packing. We also prepare crate interiors with full ester foam lining, rigid foam insulation, and Tyvek or Marvelseal inner vapor barriers.

Custom Storage
To preserve every detail of your fine art, it’s crucial to ensure proper storage. Climate control, environmental control, how much pressure is on the artwork, and even the orientation may seem like minute details, but they can make a world of difference. All of these factors, plus the overall security of your artwork, should be taken into account when creating a customized plan for your art care.
With clients looking to store artwork for days, weeks, months, and even years, it’s imperative that storage facilities are secure in every sense. At Art Work FAS, every detail is considered, including the characteristics of each artwork, the length of storage time needed, and the level of access needed, based on the activity of your collection. From there, our experienced team maps out a customized storage plan that fits your specific artwork’s needs.

Custom Installation
Just like crating and storage, proper art installation is specialized to the size and medium of the piece. Art comes in many different shapes and sizes – large, small, heavy, and sometimes uniquely awkward. Some call for more innovation and creativity, as installations of heavier pieces may require special equipment and a team of experts to ensure the art is safe and secure.
At Art Work FAS, we work to ensure the safest possible installation and have successfully done so for decades with thousands of pieces. We take into account the size, weight, and medium of the artwork to determine the appropriate hardware needed to successfully and safely display a piece.
