COVID-19 Friendly Activities in the Seattle Area

Activities in the Seattle AreaThis past year has been a journey for all of us and as we move into the fall, it is clear that we still have a long way to go before we’re back to “normal” again. Instead of focusing on what we CAN’T do, our team is exploring the world around us for things we CAN do, especially when it comes to interacting with the art community.

The Emerald City is a fantastic place to explore and is teeming with vibrant art. From public art murals and sculptures, to socially distanced exhibitions in museums, there is a wide variety of health-conscious, art-fueled activities in the Seattle area. We’ve gathered a few of them below.

Explore Public Art

Looking for a way to get outside and enjoy the gorgeous weather before the rainy months? One activity in the Seattle area you can dive into is exploring public art around the city. Scattered throughout the landscape, you’ll find a wide variety of pieces, all just waiting for you to experience them. The best part? It’s also a health-conscious activity.

To help you get out and explore, we’ve created a public art scavenger hunt, with the grand prize winner receiving two tickets to three museums in the city of Seattle. All you have to do is post four pictures of each piece you discover with a short caption of what it means to you. Then, tag us and use the hashtag #SeattleArtSeen to enter!

Visit a Museum

Museums in the Emerald City are making a conscious effort to create a safe space for guests to experience and explore exhibitions.

Many, such as the Museum of History and Industry, are requiring guests to reserve and purchase timed tickets in an effort to keep capacity to a safe number. Others, like the Seattle Art Museum, are cautiously welcoming visitors back into the space while keeping public events virtual. The Frye Art Museum is asking that all large bags remain at home, as they are reducing touchpoints around the museum. If you would like to participate in this activity in the Seattle area, we encourage you to check out the website of each museum before your visit.

Explore Virtual Activities

If you are most comfortable exploring and experiencing art from the safety of your own home, we’ve got you covered! The Tacoma Art Museum is still providing a wide range of art-focused online activities for you to connect with. In addition, they have full videos of a selection of their galleries and exhibitions. In addition, the Bellevue Arts Museum is offering the opportunity to contemplate, appreciate, and discuss visual culture, all from the comfort of your couch.
